Did your ball ever strike a tree so hard that it sounded like Mike Trout’s bat punishing a hanging slider? That’s how you earn the “Barky” card! You have to make solid contact with a tree to earn this card. The ball whistling through leaves and small branches isn’t enough. You have to hear that distinctive “CRACK” we all know and love! 

The "3 Putt" Card

Hit for show, putt for dough, right? But sometimes, it's more like Homer Simpson putting for "Doh"!! If you're having your problems on the greens and take 3 or more putts to complete a particular hole, you've earned yourself the "3 Putt" card. This card is one of two cards (the "Snowman" card being the other) that is not necessarily earned right away. If you don't sink that 3rd putt, you're probably looking at earning the card, but it's not really yours until you finally sink a putt. The good news is that if one of your playing partners holes out after you and took 3 or more putts to do so, the "3 Putt" card is theirs, no matter how many putts you needed to put the ball in the hole. 

The "Splash" Card

I don't know about you, but when I hit one in the water, it's always spectacular. It's almost like my golf ball grabs its knees and does a cannonball! Big splash, or little plunk though, it doesn't matter - if you land in a water hazard, you've earned yourself the "Splash" card. And in case you're wondering, it doesn't matter if you take the penalty or try to play the shot, "Splash" is still going in your (hopefully waterproof) pocket! And no, standing water from which you are allowed a free drop does NOT earn the "Splash" card. 

The "Snowman" Card

Until some daring course designer comes up with a par 6 hole, scoring an 8 is at best a triple-bogey. In other words, getting an 8 on a hole is a bad thing! If you find yourself drawing that snowman 8 or higher when marking your score on that scorecard, you've earned yourself the "Snowman" card my friend. This card is one of two cards (the "3 Putt" card being the other) that is not necessarily earned right away. If you just took that 8th shot and it did not go in the hole, you're probably looking at earning the card, but it's not really yours until you finish the hole. The good news is that if one of your playing partners holes out after you and took 8 or more shots to do so, the "Snowman" card is theirs, no matter how many shots you needed to put the ball in the hole.

The "Manmade" Card

Ah, those wide-open fairways - who could miss 'em, right? Unfortunately you can still be unlucky enough to hit a yardage marker, or a sprinkler head, or the cart path, or, heaven forbid, a golf cart or another golfer! If you do, you've earned yourself the "Manmade" card. Anything you hit that is manmade is fair game here. Yes, technically the golf course itself is manmade, but I think you get the spirit the "Manmade" card. There is one notable exception however - if you hit that manmade flagstick or the flag itself WHILE THE PIN IS STILL LEGALLY IN THE HOLE, you get a pass! That's only fair, right?

The "Ladies Tee" Card

You take a mighty swing off the tee, only to top the shot and roll one down the fairway. If it doesn’t roll far enough, you’ve earned yourself the “Ladies Tee” card! For those hitting off the men’s tee, no matter if it’s a worm-burner, or you skied it, or you hit an extreme hook or slice, if your ball doesn’t get past the ladies tee, this card goes in your pocket. For those teeing off from the ladies tee, you earn the “Ladies Tee” card if your tee shot goes less than 25 yards (call it 25 paces – if you reach your ball before you hit 25 paces, pocket the card). 

The "Beach" Card

After an arduous trip down the fairway, being smacked by every size and shape of club imaginable, a golf ball deserves some down time nuzzling in the warm sand, relaxing and catching some rays. You on the other hand deserve the "Beach" card. If you end up in a sand trap, the "Beach" card ends up in your pocket!
